Chapter 23 Are You Blaming Me
George kept his head lowered, assuming William wouldn't care. He was about to change the subject when William spoke. His voice was low and a little hoarse, but he left no room for argument. "Show me."
Relief flickered across George's face. He sent someone to retrieve the footage, then said softly, "Mr. Ashford, Mrs. Ashford isn't the type of person you think she is."
William said nothing, so George sighed and let it go. Once William saw the footage, he'd understand.
Ten minutes later, the security footage was in William's hands. He lowered his head, watching every detail frame by frame.
The longer he watched, the darker his eyes grew.
The camera caught Giselle's deliberate stumble and the bowl tipping just enough to spill scalding minestrone soup across Jeanette's calf.
His brows drew together in a hard line.
The burn spread across Jeanette's skin in a raw, furious bloom. But Giselle's cry had pulled him away, and he had left without noticing Jeanette's pain.
