Chapter 34 William's Mood Sours Even More
Marcus's expression softened instantly. He said to Jeanette in a gentle voice, "I'm glad you've come around, Jean. We've all been waiting for you."
Jeanette smiled but said nothing. Instead, she discussed some data related to the experiment with him.
He listened carefully, his eyes gradually widening. "So, that's it! Why didn't I think of that? Jean, you're absolutely brilliant!"
She smiled shyly.
There was so much for the two of them to talk about that they ended up finding a cafe nearby to sit down and chat. By the time they finished talking, the sky had already turned dark.
Jeanette said, "It's getting late. I have to head home."
Given the current state of her health, she couldn't handle staying up late anymore.
Marcus nodded in understanding. "Shall I drive you back?"
"It's fine," Jeanette rejected. "I drove here."
Marcus didn't insist further upon hearing that. He merely asked her to text him once she got home safely.
Jeanette drove home after they said their goodbyes.
