Chapter 77 She Might Actually Live
Jeanette spent the next few days going back and forth between home and the lab. Luckily, aside from the fever, the targeted drug didn't have any other side effects. Her stomach wasn't bothering her as much either.
The day before the banquet, she went to the lab as usual to record her data.
After collecting the sample, Marcus walked into the testing area. Jeanette went in with him.
Half an hour later, he cried out in a trembling voice, "Jean!"
Her heart jumped to her throat. She instinctively looked up at him, and she felt a pang of anxiety when she saw how strangely he was looking at her.
Everything had been going smoothly with the treatment. Was today the day it would all go south?
With that thought in mind, she quickly asked, "What's wrong, Marcus?"
Marcus drew a sharp breath but didn't speak right away. His hands were visibly shaking.
