Once Natalie and Stephen were in the car, Natalie said, "Johnson, my brother's a bit of a ruffian. I hope you don't take it to heart." Johnson replied in a gentle voice, "I don't mind. He seems like a good person, bold and straightforward." She nodded. "He's not a bad person, it's just…" She sighed. "You've probably heard bits and pieces too." Johnson answered calmly, "Doing business depends on timing, location, and people. The economic climate hasn't been great these past few years, so it's genuinely hard to get things going." After a brief pause, he added, "There's water and some snacks in the compartment by the door. I bought them for you, so help yourself if you feel like it." Ever since Natalie knew Johnson, he'd always been this attentive and considerate, handling even the smallest details perfectly. He was so reliable. If she had met Johnson first, then there might not have been room for Jeffrey at all. Perhaps the order in which people entered your life really did matter
