Staring at the tightly shut door, Eira sighed and gave it a light knock, looking more exasperated than angry.
Alexander caught the tension etched in her brows, and a wave of irritation surged in him. His breath came fast as he stepped in, blocking her path. Leaning in, his voice came low and rough, "You really can't stand being around me, huh?"
Eira rolled her eyes hard, zero hesitation as she shoved his hand away. Her voice held no warmth, only cold: "Obviously. Isn't it obvious?"
Alexander reacted instantly, grabbing her wrist in return. The sudden heat of his touch made Eira's heart skip for a second. She looked up quickly, meeting his intense, unreadable gaze. Yep, not good.
Frowning, she asked sharply, "You drank that soup?"
He nodded slightly, voice heavy, "You didn't?"
"Idiot."
The insult slipped out under her breath. Of course she hadn't really drunk it - she'd just held it in her mouth and spit it out when his grandma wasn't looking. But idiot Alexander actually drank it.
