He pushed open the door, stepped out, and slammed it behind him with such force that the sound echoed through the parking lot. Elyana winced slightly, but she didn’t turn around.
Outside, Daimon lit a cigarette with a trembling hand. The flame flickered as if mirroring his state of mind. He leaned against the car, one leg bent, dragging in the smoke like he was trying to quiet the storm inside.
The morning air was still, but around Daimon, there was a weight—of regret, of exhaustion, of emotions far too complicated for words. From behind the glass, Elyana watched his silhouette—tall, cold, somehow lost.
