Enlyan said nothing, merely nodding, but as he stepped outside, she couldn’t help but feel conflicted. Did he really intend to follow through with what she’d demanded? Or was this just another game to keep her from leaving?

Before Enlyan could digest his words, Daimon returned almost immediately. "Don't worry, she's in good hands," he assured her before she could ask any questions.
Enlyan exhaled quietly, feeling a slight relief wash over her. He wouldn't do anything to the child; he knew better than to harm her.
Daimon settled back into his seat, his eyes fixed on Enlyan as he applied the medicine to her swollen face.
Enlyan raised an eyebrow, her voice laced with sarcasm. "Mr. Blackwood, are you really going to slap her? Look at her, she's furious. She even threatened to fire your assistant. Katrina's position in your family must be quite secure."
