Chapter 1389
James swallowed and spoke gently, coaxing Abigail. "Go back."
Abigail stubbornly shook her head, believing she was the reason James had been kicked out. She mumbled, "I'm sorry, James."
James replied, "You don't have to apologize. If anything, I should be thanking you. Chubs, I've never felt this free in my entire life. You spoke the truth I was too scared to say, and because of that, I finally stood up to Uncle Oliver. Thank you… for making me stronger."
Abigail's voice trembled through her tears. "James, I want to go with you."
"Go back," James repeated softly.
Abigail shook her head again, clutching onto the hem of his shirt like she was afraid he would leave her behind.
James sighed and reassured her. "I'll come back. My girlfriend is here. I have to come back for her."
Abigail's face instantly flushed. She had a feeling that was what he meant, but she still wanted to hear him confirm it. "James… you just said… your girlfriend… Where is she?"
"She's right in front of me."
