Isabella’s POV
I was staring at the ceiling, bound to the bed posts. I couldn’t move, strength was drained. My wrists were still tied. The room was dimly-lit by the melting candle on the wooden bedside table. Its flame bent violently with each gust of wind slipping through the broken windowpane, almost blowing the candle off if not for its glass cover.
The small flame was barely hanging, almost like my hope.
Tears were streaming down my face, thinking this would be my end.
I shouldn’t have broken up with Matteo. I should’ve listened to him. I should’ve trusted him that he could fix me. I was too arrogant and self-centered. I pity myself so much that I ended up hurting him instead of protecting him.
I was wrong.
A sob escaped my lips. I want to scream, louder than the rain. But who can hear my voice in this secluded forest?
