Chapter 10

"Hello, Chairman, General Manager!" Deidre greeted them with a smile. "Why are you still calling me the Chairman?" Hans said sarcastically, "I thought you wouldn't be working here for much longer!" Deidre's expression shifted. What did Hans mean by that? Keeping her calm, she asked with a smile, "Why would you say that, Mr. Chairman? Is there anything I can help you with?" Hans sneered. "I heard that you created a miracle yesterday and sold an entire block at once. Is that true?" Deidre chuckled. "I have to correct you there, Chairman. I wasn't the one who closed the deal. It was a new employee, Rue Sanders!" Hans scoffed, "I don't care who actually sealed the deal. I just want to know if it's true!" Deidre smiled. "Of course it's true. I'll show you the paperwork at once!" Hans laughed. "Sure, you do that." He thought to himself, 'Let's see what tricks you have up your sleeve!' There was no way she could fake it! As long as the money did not reach their accounts, he could call her bluff in an instant. That was why Hans had already made up his mind. He would not look at any of the other documents Deidre had prepared. He would just check if the money had been transferred into their account. If not, then… she was definitely running a scam. In that case, he would fire both Deidre and Ron in a heartbeat. Soon enough, Deidre returned to the office with the documents in hand. Hans took the file and flipped to the last page. When he saw the transfer amount of 4.3 billion, he was instantly gobsmacked. "Call the accountant. I want to check the accounts!" he immediately ordered. It was obvious that he did not believe the figures written on the paper. Only by checking the company's accounts for the 4.3 billion dollar transfer could he prove that Deidre was telling the truth. Not long later, the company's accountant arrived at the office. He asked curiously, "Chairman, General Manager, why are you looking for me?" "Show me the most recent income bill right now!" Hans ordered. The accountant quickly pulled up some pages on his PC. Every detail of the company's income appeared on the screen. Hans' eyes zoomed in on one particular line. When he saw the number of zeroes behind 43, he could not help but count them in detail… It really added up to 4.3 billion. He was completely stunned, and his expression changed. His company had actually sold an entire block in a day. It was nothing short of a miracle… He immediately jumped to his feet and grabbed Deidre's hands. With tears in his eyes, he said, "Miss Chase, thank you for your contribution to the company! We will definitely reward you for this! You and all your employees will get double the bonuses this month!" "Thank you, Chairman!" Deidre said gratefully. The general manager, Ron, heaved a sigh of relief. Now that the chairman was certain they had sold an entire block, all his suspicions from before would be dispelled. "Miss Chase, are you still in contact with that generous buyer? I want to meet him!" Hans said excitedly. Anyone who could casually fork out 4.3 billion to buy an entire block had to be extraordinary. Hans was desperate to get to know him. "He's downstairs right now, actually. I just came back with him. He was the client I'm meeting today," Deidre said. "I'll ask him to come up!" Hans shook his head. "No… I'll go see him myself. As a show of my sincerity!" "Sure thing!" Deidre led the way. Hans and Ron followed her, curious to see this major client in person. Now they finally knew where Deidre had gotten her fancy new car from. It must have been a gift from that big client. Someone who could buy an entire block at once would not bat an eyelid before giving away an expensive luxury car. In the reception room, the real estate agents waited on Charles carefully. If Charles was in a good enough mood to buy another block today, they would all strike it rich. The most earnest one of all was none other than Heather. Yesterday, she missed out on a perfectly good chance to sell an entire block at once, all because of her bad judgment… That night, she cried herself to sleep. Since Charles was here again today, was it any wonder that she tried harder this time? However, Charles did not spare her a second glance! His attention was focused almost entirely on Rue! She was truly admirable. After Charles gave her an entire mansion yesterday, she could have easily become financially independent... However, she still chose to come to work today. She did not become arrogant and condescending just because she had obtained a mansion for free. She was still as humble, polite, thoughtful, and meticulous as before… Charles knew that he had made the right choice by giving her that mansion. Just then, the door to the reception room opened. Deidre, Ron, and Hans walked in. Everyone except Charles stood up to greet them. "Hello, Chairman, General Manager, Manager!" "Take a seat, everyone!" Hans waved his hand, and everyone sat down uneasily. Hans and Ron immediately focused their gazes on Charles. 'Is he the tycoon who bought an entire block yesterday? He's exactly as dignified and extraordinary as I imagined. Every move he makes exudes a noble aura!' Hans and Layla praised Charles inwardly. Charles' temperament had changed drastically since yesterday. It was not just because of his clothes, either… After giving Deidre the luxury car, he had gained another 20 Sincerity Points. He had added them all to his various attributes, increasing his overall vibe. Even if he was wearing ordinary clothes now, no one who saw him would mistake him for an Average Joe. "Nice to meet you, Mr. Duncan!" Hans offered him a handshake. Charles looked puzzled. "And who are you?" "This is our chairman!" Deidre said with a smile. "I see! Nice to meet you, Mr. Chairman!" Charles shook his hand calmly. He was sitting while Hans was standing, so they were at different heights. Hans had no choice but to bend over. He looked almost comical, but Hans' expression betrayed no dissatisfaction. After all, he knew that any young man who could casually fork out 4.3 billion had to come from a terrifying family. Hans was determined to befriend such a person. "Oh, please don't be so formal… You can just call me Hans!" Hans said with a laugh. "That wouldn't be appropriate," Charles said mildly. "I heard that you have something to discuss with Deidre. Has the matter been resolved? I'm still waiting for her to show me the property!" "Of course it's all taken care of!" Ron interjected. "From now on, Miss Chase will be your personal liaison… If you have any requests, feel free to ask her!" "Good, don't mind if I do!" Charles stood up and turned to Deidre. "Let's go!" Deidre nodded and was about to leave with Charles when Hans' phone suddenly rang. It was another shareholder of the company, Logan Chance. "Hans, there's a problem with our funds… The previous client was a swindler who ran away with our money!" Logan said anxiously on the other end of the phone. "What the hell?! That's 20 billion at stake! If we lose so much money at once, we'll lose our liquidity! The company could go bankrupt in an instant!"
