Chapter 104: His Cold Indifference
Arthur's office was only a temporary setup, so the soundproofing was terrible. Everyone outside probably heard every word of him tearing into me just now.
I walked back to my desk, feeling hollow, my stomach knotted with frustration and hurt.
"Serena, are you okay?"
Mia, sitting across from me, gave me a worried look.
"I'm fine."
I forced a smile, but even I knew it looked awful.
"I mean, seriously, the boss… so what if he didn't like the design? Does he really have to go nuclear like that?"
Mia's voice dropped to a mutter as her eyes darted toward Arthur's office.
"Alright, if you've got time to complain, you've got time to work. Unless you want to be next on his list."
Even though things were over between Arthur and me, hearing her talk about him like that rubbed me the wrong way.
