Chapter 2

Rebecca turned on her phone the next day to see that Sally, who allegedly committed suicide last night, had updated her social media. Her post read: "How does it feel to have three men doting on you?" She posted three photos alongside her post. In the first photo, Brandon, who was usually indifferent, held Sally in his arms as he fed her oatmeal. In the second photo, Yves, who was usually aloof, sat by her bedside as their fingers interlocked. In the third photo, Harvey, who was usually arrogant, crouched in front of her as he carefully applied ointment to her wounds. Sally was smiling bashfully in the photos, looking like the happiest woman in the world. Many were envious and started leaving sour remarks in the comments section. "Sally Clarke must've saved the nation in her past life to have the three Shaw brothers doting on her like this." "Exactly! Having just one would be enough, but three? How did Sally even pull this off?" Besides those who were envious, there were also those who were waiting to see Rebecca's downfall. She casually glanced through the comments section, and a few caught her eye. "I wonder what Ms. Underwood will think when she sees these?" "What else would a bootlicker like her think? She used to chase after the three Shaw brothers all the time. She's probably dying of jealousy right now and will probably come crawling back to them soon. Wanna bet how long it'll take her to show up?" "I bet she'll be there in ten minutes!" "I bet five!" "I'm betting three minutes! I'll even put my brand new sports car on the line!" Many started to place their bets with great interest, with the stakes growing higher and higher. Yet Rebecca just smiled with ease. From now on, she would never humiliate herself by chasing after them like she used to. As such, she swiftly typed out: "I'll bet my entire life!" Many started to text her upon seeing her comment, wanting to know if she was merely joking. She simply turned off her phone and ignored the texts. At that moment, a knock came from the door. Harold Greyson, the Shaw family's butler, stood outside. "Mrs. Shaw Senior has decided on a date, Ms. Underwood. It's set on the fifth of next month—a perfect day to get married. "The Shaws will take care of everything for the wedding. All you need to do is pick a wedding dress and a ring that you like, and make the final decision. Mr. Frank had asked me to bring you these—the keys to your marital home. You're free to decorate it however you like." He then took out a property transfer agreement and a set of keys before handing them over to Rebecca respectfully. "By the way, Mr. Frank is still on an overseas business trip. He has urgent matters to attend to, but he'll be back before the wedding. Please don't worry, Ms. Underwood." Harold turned to leave after he'd finished explaining everything. The fifth of next month was only two weeks away. It would come very soon. Rebecca gripped the keys to her marital home tightly. The cold, hard metal slowly warmed up with her body heat, and she felt herself relax. She bought all sorts of decorations and ornaments for their marital home, then brought some household staff over to help her put them up. The villa was strewn with wedding decorations as soon as they started decorating it. The simple, modern space was gradually filled with decorations of her liking, and the villa started looking more lived-in. Looking at the nearly finished marital home, Rebecca was suddenly overcome with anxiety. Frank was older than her. All her life, she'd felt nothing but fear and respect for him. But now, she was about to marry that man. … Once Rebecca arrived home, a household staff member handed her an invitation to an auction, along with an auction catalogue. She wasn't in the mood to attend and casually flipped through the catalogue when a men's watch at the very end caught her attention. The watch was named "Devotion," symbolizing unwavering love until death. It had been custom-made by Princess Anna for her lover in the last century, and was the only one of its kind in the world. The moment Rebecca saw it, she thought the watch suited Frank perfectly. She thought she should prepare a gift for him on their wedding day. As such, Rebecca attended the auction the next day, determined to obtain the watch at any cost.
