“Abigail, I swear I won’t drag you down with me. Just let me rest a couple of days—once I can walk, I’m outta here.” Rachel Collins’ tears fell one by one, perfectly timed like they were rehearsed, each drop hitting Abigail right in the chest.
Abigail felt torn. On one hand, she pitied this unlucky girl; on the other, she really didn’t want to get into trouble for hiding someone. After some hesitation, she said, “Alright. If anyone asks, I’ve never seen you. Just stay here and rest up for the next two days.”
