Lucas froze like he'd been hit with a spell. Then, he reflexively denied it. "No." "Good," Miranda said flatly. "I'll be out of town the next few days. Don't come looking for me. Let's talk when the cooling-off period ends." Lucas didn't understand. "Aren't you gonna go pick it up? I threw it away! I just tossed the thing you kept in the safe!" Why wasn't she going to get it?
