Chapter 41
The car rolled to a gentle stop in front of Wayne. The driver got out and opened the door for him.
Wayne glanced at Miranda and asked, "What's wrong?"
Miranda hesitated, not sure how to bring it up. After all, it was indeed difficult to hail a cab in that area.
"My friend ditched me."
Wayne nodded understandingly. "Hop in. I'll give you a ride."
"Thank you, Mr. Sunders."
The car soon drove into Miranda's apartment complex. Since it was raining heavily, Wayne had the car stop right beneath her building.
Miranda thanked him and alighted from the car.
Wayne's car didn't linger, pulling away right after she got out.
Just as Miranda was about to enter her building, she sensed something and turned around, only to see a black car parked in the dark, rainy night.
