Chapter 46
Lucas watched as his ringing phone went silent. A moment later, it rang again. This went on a few times.
The bodyguards by his bedside stood guard like a wall, blocking any attempt to leave. Lucas shifted his gaze from the phone to Liliana's face. "Mom, don't you think this is a bit much?"
Liliana went through all this trouble just to keep an eye on him, preventing him from getting divorced.
Lucas said, "I don't believe Miranda will go through with the divorce."
"Better safe than sorry. It's just for a few more hours. Once the courthouse closes, I'll have everyone leave. You just stay here and behave," Liliana ordered.
Lucas leaned back against the hospital bed, looking out the window. "People who didn't know better might think Miranda was your daughter."
"I'm doing this for your own good."
Lucas curled his lips in disdain but didn't argue further. The phone on the table kept buzzing. Liliana took a glance and saw that it wasn't Miranda, but Brett.
