Holding her in my arms, feeling her heartbeat and her warmth was the best feeling I’ve heard in a while. I didn’t want it to end but I had to leave so that I wouldn’t scare her away. It took me great effort to come and confess my deepest fears. She listened as always, without any judging or scolding. Rose was not too petty to try and make me feel bad. Right at that moment, I didn’t want to ask if we were okay or if she’ll take me back. All that I wanted was to enjoy this moment. I deserved it after a long period of anguish, with no shoulders to lean on or someone to talk to. My body seemed to have relaxed. I no longer had regret lingering at the back of my head but gratitude for having her in my life, that I ever crossed paths with a woman like her. She was brought to me to take me out of the hollow that I’ve been living in this entire time. I pulled back, looked at her eyes before whispering “I’ll go now. Thank you for hearing me out.” She smiled, not like she used to but at least she
