Adrian POV
I watched Rose’s figure disappear into the night and finally let out a slow breath.
She’s gotten herself into trouble again. I shouldn’t have interfered. But before I could stop myself, the order had already left my lips: “Look into that bar.”
The moment I got into the car, I caught the faint scent Rose had left on me—roses and mint. My heart suddenly sped up, and the blood in my body felt like it had caught fire.
“Damn it,” I muttered under my breath.
I’ve always hated the feeling of losing control. Sixteen years ago, when I was twenty, a bloody ambush took my parents’ lives. I was forced to hide my identity and drift along the edge of life and death.
