Chapter 19
When Hendrick regained consciousness, he found himself in an unfamiliar environment. Seconds later, he sat up when he recalled how he had fainted in front of Savannah's home. Was she taking care of him?
He was filled with joy and excitement. Carefully getting out of bed to peek at her, he walked to the living room. He saw a busy figure in the kitchen.
There she was.
Touched, he felt like he regained a precious thing he had lost.
He wanted to hurry over, pull her into a tight hug, and profess his love over these years to her, so that she wouldn't have to worry.
Alas, he noticed another figure in the kitchen when he took a few steps. The man had given Savannah a back hug.
"Stop fooling around. I'm making soup."
"Is the soup for your ex-husband? Ms. Johnson, you're divorced."
"The soup's for you. Yesterday, you said you craved it."
"Feed me."
Smiling, she caved in and scooped some soup. After blowing on it, she fed it to the guy and watched him with tenderness.
