Chapter 24
It was that same patronizing tone again, as if Jeffery were doing me a favor.
Irritation rose in my chest, but before I could snap back, Clay beat me to it.
"She divorced you because she doesn't love you anymore. What makes you think she wants your love now? As for everything you just promised her, I can give her all of that and more."
He wasn't done. "Cut the smug act. Sienna doesn't need your pity. She has me now, and I'll give her whatever she wants."
Jeffery's face went from red to ghostly pale. He froze, unable to get a word out.
I rolled up the window and told Clay, "Let's go."
Clay nodded and hit the gas. We sped off, leaving Jeffery coughing in our exhaust.
One of Jeffery's men stepped up. "Should we go after them?"
Jeffery shook his head. "No! Who does Sienna think she is? She keeps making me grovel just to throw it back in my face. I've spoiled her too much. If she doesn't want to come back, fine! Does she really think I can't live without her?"
