It was that same patronizing tone again, as if Jeffery were doing me a favor. Irritation rose in my chest, but before I could snap back, Clay beat me to it. "She divorced you because she doesn't love you anymore. What makes you think she wants your love now? As for everything you just promised her, I can give her all of that and more." He wasn't done.
