Chapter 4

Jeffery didn't think too much about it. He said, "Then, pack our luggage for us before the next morning. We're leaving tomorrow at 9:00 am. "Pack for Jessica, too. She's too frail to do any heavy work. "Go to her house and help her pack. Don't forget her ID card and passport." He didn't give me any chance to refuse. After saying his piece, he turned and left. The next day, I carried all their luggage into the car by myself. Then, I followed them to the airport to send them off. They happily chatted along the way and constantly checked on Jessica. No one cared that I had thrown up 15 times in the car from my motion sickness. Before boarding the airplane, Sally put on an act by bidding me farewell. "Mom, since you'll be home alone, make sure to take good care of yourself. I'll buy you souvenirs." I simply stared at them silently. Suddenly, Jessica cried out. "My necklace is gone! It was a memento from my mom." Jessica was adopted by the Ford family. Back then, her mother had fallen off a cliff and died to save Jessica. The only thing she left for Jessica was an expensive necklace. Jeffery immediately started to panic and urged everyone to look for it. Jessica curled up with her handbag and cried. Then, she suddenly turned to me. "Sienna, you're the only one who touched my luggage. Be honest. Did you steal my necklace when you packed my luggage last night?" Jeffery slapped me across the face almost instantly. He glared at me. "How could you be so horrible, Sienna? Do you hate my stepsister so much that you'd even steal her necklace? Quickly hand it over." Samuel and Sally looked at me like I was nothing but a disgrace. "Mom, we may have gone bankrupt, but we haven't fallen to the point where we would be thieves. Hurry up and return it to Aunt Jessica." I frowned. "We've known each other for years. When have I ever played petty tricks like stealing? "Besides, I saw her take her necklace out of her bag a while ago. Madison saw it too." Everyone's gaze immediately landed on Madison, but she didn't side with me. Instead, she shook her head and said, "Sienna, don't drag me down with you. I didn't see a necklace at all." Hearing that, Douglas angrily stomped over and punched me in the stomach. "Old hag, hurry up and give the necklace back to Grandaunt Jessica!" Daphne also bit my arm. "You fat pig! Hand it over!" Jessica wept pitifully. "That necklace is my most treasured possession. I wanted to be buried with it." Jeffery's expression cooled. He pointed at me and warned, "Sienna, you have three seconds to hand it over before I tear your clothes off." I frowned. "I don't have it!" Jeffery didn't believe me at all. He immediately ordered his men to tear the clothes off my body. My clothes were torn into pieces, leaving me in nothing but my old bra and underwear. Shame threatened to swallow me whole. I gritted my teeth and covered myself up as much as I could. Suddenly, a staff member at the airport approached us. "Excuse me. Is this yours?" She was holding a necklace in her hand. It was the very necklace Jessica had lost. Jessica immediately rushed over to snatch the necklace back. "Where did you find this?" The staff member replied, "You dropped it when you were rummaging through your bag. "The necklace looks expensive. You should be more careful next time." Upon hearing her words, Jessica seemed embarrassed. However, Jeffery was still upset at me and defended Jessica. "You should've said something if you didn't take it. Why didn't you speak up?" Samuel and Sally scoffed. "Mom, just admit that you wanted to embarrass Aunt Jessica. Housewives really are only good at being jealous." Douglas and Daphne even spat at me. Only when the announcement for their flight came did they rush to board the plane. Seeing how dishevelled I looked, the staff member kindly draped a coat over my body. I wrapped the coat around myself and bought some clothes nearby. Then, I grabbed my luggage and boarded the plane for Strovakia. Watching the city slowly fade into the distance through the window, I sighed in relief. Goodbye to this nightmarish land!
