#Chapter 27: Desperate

The world outside blurred into a kaleidoscope of colors as the car sped through the city. It was getting hard to keep track of where we were going. My best bet was to try and find a way to escape when we got there. I wasn't sure if they would actually shoot me, but it was too early in the evening to test it. Mom was still getting ready for surgery, probably. Panic gnawed at me. What if I didn't make it back in time?
My gaze darted around the car, searching for a potential weapon, any object that could be used as a tool for escape. There was nothing, just the cold, hard plastic of the interior.
I turned my gaze back out the window to memorize the route, the landmarks, and anything that could help me if I managed to escape. Each turn, each street, was etched into my mind. I had to know where I was being taken to have a chance of fighting back.
Fear and determination warred within me. I was scared, terrified even. But I was also angry, a cold fury burning in my core. Lorenzo
