KAELON’S POV The silence in my study was a balm, at least for the first few seconds. I sat behind my desk, a whiskey untouched in front of me, the ice long since melted. The warm amber liquid looked inviting, but I knew better. I didn’t need a drink. I needed to set things right. Some control over the chaos that had become my life. A soft knock came at the door.
