Liv’s POV
It had been so easy to fall for him because he was everything I never thought I’d need. Strong, steady, protective. But there was a whole lot of drama I wasn’t prepared for if we came out to the public.
I looked down at my hands, fiddling with the edge of the blanket again, trying to find the right words. “You don’t understand,” I whispered. “My family... they’re complicated. You think it’s just a matter of meeting them, but it’s not that easy.”
Kaelon’s eyes softened, but his expression didn’t change. He leaned back, his arms crossed over his chest as if weighing my words. “What’s so complicated about it?”
I inhaled deeply, gathering the courage to say what I had been avoiding for so long. “My parents don’t get along. My mom and dad... they divorced when I was younger, and there’s still so much bitterness there. And don’t even get me started on my extended family. My father is the only one I really talk to.”
