Staring at the bottomless cliff, Catherine's legs went weak, trembling all over. Fear overwhelmed her as she collapsed to her knees, teeth chattering as she begged William, “Will, please—I know I was wrong. We used to love each other, remember? Please, don't do this, I'm begging you!”
William narrowed his eyes at her, his voice cold and steady, “I never loved you. Not even once.”
Back then, if his eyes hadn't always been chasing Elizabeth, he wouldn't have gone to her place so often, giving Catherine all those "accidental" chances to bump into him.
