Chapter 63
Evelyn had her head buried in the documents Steven had delivered all day. She was sorting them by categories she preferred, making it easier for future reference. Looking at the pile she had only gotten halfway through, she finally lifted her head and stretched a bit.
It was already 5:30. After a few light stretches, she began tidying up the desk, putting the finished documents on the left and the pending ones on the right.
Right then, her phone buzzed—Julian calling.
"Done for the day?" His voice came through the moment the call connected.
"Just about," Evelyn replied.
She mentally calculated the time—the dinner was at eight, and as one of the hosts, she definitely had to be early.
Glancing at the dress laid out on the desk, she knew she needed to touch up her look too.
Yep, about time to head back and get ready.
Julian chuckled, "I'm in the parking lot. Need me to come up and carry bags for Mrs. Everett?"
She couldn't help but smile at his playful tone. "You're too kind, Mr. Everett.
