Chapter 74 The Nerve of Him
With a thunderous crash, the heavy metal ventilation duct slammed down. Julian's tall frame staggered, but he tightened his hold on Rosalie and dropped into a half-crouch. A muffled groan escaped his throat, low and strained.
Even through the haze of her fading awareness, Rosalie could feel the crushing weight that had slammed onto his back.
He bore it with raw strength, pausing for only a second before forcing himself upright. Without hesitation, he kept charging forward with her in his arms.
Tears slid silently from the corners of Rosalie's eyes, only to vanish instantly in the suffocating heat.
Julian carried her out of the thick smoke and straight toward the breach where the water cannons had torn into the flames.
"Captain Yarwood!"
"Captain Yarwood's out! Hurry! Over here, medical team!"
"Bring the water cannons this way! Cover Captain Yarwood!"
Cold spray doused Rosalie's skin, and for the first time, she felt as if she had been dragged out of hell and back into the world
