Chapter 2

Jasmine returned to the lounge and closed the door, blocking out the noises. She made a hasty decision to return to Jenvil to get married, so she still had to get someone to take over her business in Horinton. For the whole night, Jasmine was on the phone to sort out the remaining work. She stared at Lynette's name as the CEO of Ascend Entertainment on the screen for a long time. Her fingers flew across the keyboard before she emailed a notice of removal from the position to Lynette. Since Jasmine had founded the company, she would never hand it to an ungrateful brat like Lynette, even if she had to destroy it herself. After settling everything, Jasmine stretched up before she walked out of her room to enjoy the seaview. The night had fallen, and the banquet hall on the cruise was empty. All the guests had returned to their rooms to rest. When Jasmine walked past Timothy's room, Lynette's clear and sweet voice rang out from inside. The door was left ajar, so Jasmine glanced inside subconsciously. Lynette was wearing a custom-made gown. Jasmine could tell at a glance that Matthew had gifted her the attire. Matthew had some collaborations with that workshop, so Jasmine had asked him to bring over the design draft. Jasmine had done the draft herself. She had wanted to wear the gown to attend the award ceremony with Matthew. However, there hadn't been any updates after she had given him the draft. It turned out that the gown had been made and given to Lynette. Sensing the gaze on her, Lynette peered outside, but she pretended that she didn't see Jasmine. There was some cream on her face as she raised her head and beamed sweetly at Timothy. "Tim, you made this birthday cake for me. Would Jas be mad if she found out?" She fiddled with the cake and spun around, showing it off to Jasmine, who was standing outside. "The cake is beautiful! Tim, I love it so much!" With that, she planted a kiss on Timothy's cheek. Matthew pretended to look displeased, acting all playful as he stared at Lynette with his glistening eyes. "Lyn, do you like the gown I gifted you? It's a custom-made gown that's really difficult to get. You didn't even compliment me…" Lynette placed her arms around his neck and kissed his cheek. "Matt, I really like you, too." Matthew's cheeks flushed instantly. Looking at the trio's intimate interaction in the room, Jasmine scoffed and left. It was obvious that Lynette had done that deliberately to spite her. Lynette would've succeeded if it had been in the past. Back then, Timothy and Matthew had been doting on Jasmine. She surely couldn't accept it if they ignored her and went to attend to Lynette instead. Now that Jasmine had decided to leave, she wouldn't get emotionally affected by a trivial matter like this. In the future, she would simply be friends with Timothy and Matthew. Lynette could marry either one of them. … The next day, after handing over everything to her assistant, Charles Sullivan, Jasmine went back to the villa and started packing up. After leaving this time, she had no idea when she would return to Horinton again, so she threw away all the unwanted stuff. The three of them had always been together in the past. There was a room in the villa that Jasmine used to keep everything that held their memories. She entered the room. Looking at everything that had happened, she felt as though many things had changed drastically. Inside the safe on the desk were the love letters written to her by Timothy and Matthew. All the words carried their genuine feelings and emotions, and Jasmine carefully kept every single one of the letters. Now that she had read those words again, she could still vaguely see the young men's eyes beaming with affection when they handed her the letters. There was a bottle of stars next to the window. Timothy had personally made them on Jasmine's 18th birthday. The wind chime hanging right next to it had been made by Matthew. He had hoped she would stay bright and free. Jasmine was awash with a wave of bitterness as she looked at the room full of their memories. Everything was over now. She threw the stars into the trash can and smashed the wind chime. Seemingly lost in thought, Jasmine put all the love letters into the paper shredder. Bits and pieces of memories were erased as the shredded paper fell into the trash can. … Timothy and Matthew were stunned to see those things in the garbage bags at the door when they came back. They couldn't be bothered to think that it was unhygienic as they squatted and fumbled through the garbage inside. Matthew's hand was cut by the broken pieces of the wind chime, but he didn't seem to feel the pain. Holding the wind chime, he staggered into the room. He stared at Jasmine's back and fell into a brief trance. "W-What are you trying to do?" Jasmine didn't even look up as she tore their photos from the wall before throwing them into the trash can. "I'm tidying up the room. It'd be better to throw all these useless things. They're taking up space." Timothy dashed over and took the photos out of the trash can. There were stains on the photos, so he wiped them with his sleeve, only to make it worse. His heart ached as he stared at the photos, then at the room. The room, once fully decorated, now looked like it had just been renovated. "Why are these useless? Jas, these hold our youth and memories. Don't you want them anymore?" Pursing his lips, Matthew stared at the empty room and felt as if a part of him had gone missing. Looking at the two dejected men, Jasmine couldn't help sneering. Didn't they treasure Lynette so much that they didn't care about her anymore? But why were they acting all sentimental over those insignificant memories now? If they knew she was going back to Jenvil to get married, what would they think? What would they do?
