Chapter 13
Ever since that day, Conan kept showing up at Tamara's house. After spending so much time together, Conan and Fred were essentially best friends and addressed each other by their first names.
They would often make plans to go fishing or play poker together.
At first, Tamara thought that it was a good thing because she had hoped that Fred would be able to make some friends of his own, even if the friend was eons younger than him.
However, she began to notice that Conan's eyes kept lingering on her as of late.
Today, Conan had come by at her house again with a new set of poker cards he'd just bought.
"Dad went out," Tamara said, suppressing her flickering thoughts. Conan hadn't even spoken a single word, and yet, she had already given him an excuse, saying that Fred wasn't home and stopped him at the door.
Conan didn't seem to mind, though. He just set down his cards and turned his attention fully to Tamara instead.
"I'm not here to look for him anyway."
