Chapter Four

Remember when I said Macy didn't take anything seriously?

"Hold on, he heard you?" She pursed her lips together to stop herself from laughing. "That's so embarrassing." She said solemnly.

I threw my pillow at her. "Mace, do you not see the problem here?" I groaned.

She shook her head. "I don't see the problem actually. It wasn't right for you to make the decision not to tell him. He deserves to at least have the option to make good decisions for his kid."

The bitch was right.

"Mace, can you ever be on my side? Like once? Just to keep things fresh."

She smacked her lips. "I've been on your side from the start. I don't want you doing anything you'll regret."

I flopped onto my bed. "Now I have to tell Kody. Or I could just let King do it and save myself a bus ride."

Macy leaned over and flicked my forehead. "You're going to do it. Want me to drive you over?"

It seemed only right that I get this out of the way right now.

"Sure. Let's stop at Taco Bell on the way back though."

She laughed grabbing her keys off of the hook.

All of a sudden our door was thrown open.

Stella McLean stood in front of us with a wide smile on her face. "Girls, I hope you are ready for festivities."

I shot Macy a warning look before mumbling, "Pop up night?"

Stella beamed. "Pop up Night!" She exclaimed clapping her hands together like a freaking cheerleader.

Pop up night was something Zeta Phi Did once a quarter. We would get dressed up and pop up at some lame bar that was on its last leg and basically make it super popular for the night. Everybody loved it.

Normally I did too but tonight would be a bit different. Tonight I couldn't drink or hook up or smoke or do any of the fun stuff that I normally did when I went out.

Macy went crazy.

"Hell yes. And I just did my hair. I'm about to get wrecked." She said fist pumping.

I clenched my teeth sending Stella a fake smile and a nod as she instructed us to be ready by ten.

"Boy am I glad there's no pea sized fetus sucking the joy out of my college experience." Macy said once we were alone.

I threw my pillow. "You know this means I'll be sober enough to snitch on you for flirting with random guys. You know I like Jamie better than you."

Not completely true and not completely a lie.

Macy shrugged. "He knows who he's with. If he doesn't like it, the key is under the mat."

I stared at her analogy.

She walked to the closet going through her messy pile of clothes. "So we're going to postpone this trip to Kody's house right?" She asked studying a shimmering red top.

"Yeah." I said softly also walking to the closet. My clothes were hung up neatly on the other side.

"Okay, So since your not drinking tonight, I actually am gonna get wrecked. You gonna watch out for me?" She asked.

I rolled my eyes. "Fine. But next month when I have morning sickness you have to spoil me until I feel better. "

She leaned over quickly placing a smacking kiss on my forehead. "It's gonna be my pleasure. Okay, We ride!"

***************

When we arrived at the bar, it was already packed. College kids spilled out of the rickety looking building from every angle.

The music was blasting loud and I could smell the stench of alcohol from outside.

"Alright girls" Stella said propping her hand on her hips, her tight shorts complementing her long model legs. "Keep it classy."

With that the crowd of Zeta Phi girls dispersed.

There was a round of cheers as our presence was made known and I grinned knowing that people would come up to me and try and talk to me immediately.

I quickly made my way to the bar taking a seat some random guy offered.

"What can I get you?" A stressed out bartender asked nervously tapping his fingers on the countertop.

I leaned in. "Sweet tea." I said with a smirk. He simply nodded before scurrying away. Two seconds later he was back with a large glass of dark tea. I leaned in relaxing and allowing the cold liquid to cool me down.

"You're hard to get ahold of these days. "

I froze, taking a deep breath before turning to face Jaxon.

He was dressed nice in a tight white T-shirt and expensive looking jeans. His face was shaved clean and his hair was tousled.

"Maybe because I don't want you getting ahold of me." I said in a snarky tone, going back to sipping my drink.

"Sure you do, babe. Because we both know that this was just a dumb fight."

I clenched my teeth. "Jaxon, I'm not in the mood for this." I said calmly.

He took the seat next to me. "Ezra, babe. Can we please just go outside and talk about this? You know I don't like the attention."

There were a couple pairs of eyes watching us, but I couldn't care less. "There's nothing to say Jaxon. Now if you don't want to be embarrassed, I suggest you get to stepping."

He reached over pulling my glass away from me. "How about we have a sober second?" He said leaning down so that he was in my face.

This is why I didn't like arguing with Jaxon. He said things like 'Sober Second' and 'Cool Off Minute'. It made me realize how much of a private school kid he was and how different we were.

"Jaxon, how about you go fuck Cassie Whitaker again? You seemed to like that."

I knew that the people standing next to us had heard what I said and I didn't care.

Jaxon actually blushed. "I already apologized for that, and I won't be repeating myself."

I waved him off, reaching for my drink, groaning when he simply pushed it further out of my reach.

"Try not being drunk for once, Ezra. Sheesh."

I raised a brow. "Jaxon, let me say this one time, perfectly clear in the words of Taylor Swift herself; 'We're never getting back together...like ever."

His eyes went cold as he eyed the crowd snickering and whispering. "I'll talk to you when you're sober." He muttered, turning on his heels and marching through the crowd.

I let out a deep breath. Having this baby was actually making me make smarter decisions in life.

"Ever the life of the party."

I froze in my seat as Kody took the now empty spot next to me.

I wasn't surprised to see him, the whole school was here. But I was surprised that he came up to me even after I went off on him.

I masked my surprise well.

"Go bother somebody else, Vincent. I'm wallowing." I reached for my drink, gasping when he snatched it away from me, taking a large gulp.

"Ugh. The fuck is that, water?"

I pursed my lips to keep from laughing. "It's tea dumbass. I'm the DD tonight. "

The lie came effortlessly and I relaxed in my chair, stirring my drink with the black straw.

"Right. So..." he awkwardly scratched the back of his head. "You wanna talk about today or..."

I didn't want to talk about today. So I didn't. Instead, I ordered Kody a drink and joked around about the fancy way he was dressed and we both pretended there wasn't a huge elephant in the room.
