Cassandra suppressed her disgust and answered coldly, "I'm afraid I don't discuss personal preferences with others. Perhaps you should ask Mrs. Anderson what fragrance she likes."
"My mistake. I drank too much and overstepped. I apologize," Desmond said with an awkward laugh.
"Let's make sure it doesn't happen again. I'm very particular about personal space." Without giving him another chance to speak, Cassandra turned and strode back toward the dining room.
Desmond watched her walk away, a dark glint flickering in his eyes.
Cassandra felt thoroughly repulsed and wiped her palm with a wet tissue several times before heading back inside.

"What took you so long?" he asked quietly.
