Chapter 6 5

Amelia's POV I sat down around my desk waiting on Hunter since Xavier instructed me not to leave the office. I decided to invite Hunter up for lunch it felt like ages since last spoke and it was mostly my fault since he made efforts to keep our friendship going. I heard the elevator door open and I stood up opening my door to see Hunter, his gaze met mine and he smiled walking into my office sitting down as I did the same. "Chinese," I said happily as he removes the food from the bag I grab my chop sticks digging in and he laughs. "I see you're hungry," "Staving I didn't get to eat this morning because my car broke down again," "I think it's time you give up on it, you make enough to buy a new one," "I know but Francine has been there for me since high school," I said to him and he laughed. "My point exactly," he replied and I rolled my eyes playfully we continued to talk enjoying each other's company as we ate. I gathered all the garbage throwing it in my bin as Hunter continued to drink his water. "Your office is huge," he points out and I smile scanning the room. "You-" before I can finish my door flies open. "You out," Xavier ordered Hunter his gaze hard and firm. Hunter sends me a look before leaving the office and Xavier's eyes moves to me and he stands there as if waiting on something. The elevator doors close and he motions for me to come to him and body does before my mind has the chance to catch up. "What is he doing in here?" He asks his voice firm. "We had lunch," I replied softly trying to avoid his gaze his domineering stance turning me on slightly, his hand moving to my chin making my eyes meet his. "If I see him around you, he will be fired do you understand me?" "But Hun-" "Do you understand me Amelia?" He asks again and I nod knowing better than to object. "Amelia," "Yes Xavier," I replied and his eyes soften. "Perfect," he whispers looking into my eyes as if searching for something. He leans forward kissing my forehead before leaving my office. I exhaled my heart racing as I try to grasph what just happened I closed my eyes and replayed everything. My mind begins to wander and I quickly remind myself he is my boss. . . . I decided to get my hair cut during my lunch break since Xavier gave me a longer one because of our rather free schedule today. I was sitting in the chair as my hairdresser Mari worked her magic even though she was slightly pissed that I wanted to cut it. But it was getting harder and harder to handle as the days went by and even harder to get dry. I looked in the mirror admiring my shorter hair that now fell down to the middle of my back as Mari continued to curl the rest of it. I made a quick stop at Fresh's Smoothie and bought two fruit smoothies planing to give Xavier one. After a couple minutes I was in the elevator waiting, the files I picked up from the copy room in one hand and the smoothies in the other. The doors opened and I stepped out walking over to Xavier who was sitting behind his desk working. "Here are the files you asked for," I said placing them on his desk, his eyes stay on his screen as he speaks "Where were you?" "I went to get my hair cut," I said and he shifts looking up at me, his gaze critical. He stood up walking a smile on his face. "I like it," and for some reason I'm relieved. "There is food in the fridge," he informs me his eyes meeting mine and I nod. "I bought you a smoothie," I replied and his smile widens as he pushes my hair back. . . . . . . "It's you" She announced softly "So I did do something?" I asked thinking back, trying to figure out what exactly. "You're doing everything right" She confessed leaving realization to stand in my mind. "And that scares you?" I asked but it sounded more like a statement, nonetheless, she still gave me a small nod to confirm my words. "What's your fear when it comes to us?" I asked softly. "That you'll hurt me, lie, cheat, change" She replied her voice small and I could tell each word she said held a memory. "I won't, and I know that's hard for you to believe because of past experiences but I'll prove it, we can move at whatever pace you want to,"
