Landon, naturally, did not want the Ferguson Group to go bankrupt. So, he came to see me again to try to win me over.
He rarely gave me flowers in the five years we dated. But now, the Ziegler residence's entrance was overflowing with roses.
He brought me my favorite pastries and held up the "forgive me" card I once gave him to ask for a reconciliation. "I bought movie tickets, Annette. Why don't we go together?"
I found his pleas for forgiveness ridiculous. "It's not that you don't know how to love, Landon. You just didn't love me. Leave. Love that arrives this late is cheaper than dirt."
When he realized that I wasn't buying his act, he dropped to his knees and pleaded desperately, "I made a mistake, Annette. Give me another chance. I'll make it up to you."
