Hearing that, Grandma's face darkened. Gone was her attempt at reconciliation. She raised her cane and started hitting them.
"Get lost! You scumbags want my granddaughter to play stepmother to the child? Over my dead body! So what if you saved my daughter? Your heart is rotten! Get out of our house, and don't come back!"
After that, I told Dylan everything that happened. He arrived swiftly, dressed to the nines in a formal suit, holding a folder full of official documents. I blinked in confusion.
Dylan handed me a beautiful gift box, his face tinged red. "I had this dress custom-made for you. Put it on. Let's go get our marriage certificate."
I was somewhat taken aback.
He took my hand and said seductively, "Annette, since Landon refuses to believe you've stopped loving him, why don't we go register our marriage? We can be together out in the open. That way, I can move in to protect you. Isn't that right?"
His words were sweet, and the meaning was clear. Still, it felt off to me
