Lorraine couldn't help but roll her eyes.
What did Bobby mean? Just because she was Justin's fiancée, was she supposed to be endlessly compassionate and self-sacrificing?
This was moral blackmail at its finest.
Her expression immediately cooled. "To be honest, we've only met twice. We're barely even acquainted—we've only crossed paths. I don't even know your name. Now that you're directly asking for a favor, on what grounds do you think I should help you?"
Her voice was icy and sharp enough to freeze the air around them, yet Bobby seemed completely oblivious to her reluctance. He scratched his head and continued pleading.
"You're kind and beautiful, Ms. Neale. All it'll take is just one word for you, but to me, it'll make a huge difference. Please help me!"
With tears and snot streaming down his face, he drew more curious looks from the passersby.
It was the end of the workday. Employees were pouring out of the building, so the crowd was growing by the second.
