Chapter 2184
Louise understood Hector's meaning and didn't stop him. Instead, she stated, "I can assure you that no one from the Wynthorpe clan, or even the demon clan, will show up at the Jensen residence and disrupt her peace."
It was only then that Shannon finally turned to look at Louise, whom she had seen not long ago amidst the space-time chaos.
Her appearance hadn't changed much from then, but the radiance that had once lit her features when facing her husband was gone.
Even amid her long, snowy hair, Shannon couldn't tell if those extra strands of white were always there or newly grown.
Louise had never said he loved him, but Shannon could see in her eyes the fondness she had for him and the child they might have had.
Perhaps Thalia had misunderstood Louise all along.
As for Louise sending her and Benjamin to six thousand years ago, Shannon didn't have any resentment about it. On the contrary, she was grateful that it allowed her to meet Elowen and Lucan.
So, as she was being taken away by Thalia and Hector, she winked at Louise from a corner where no one could see.
Louise's eyes flickered, and after a moment, she slightly raised an eyebrow.
…
Hector's intention to take Shannon home for rest wasn't purely out of spite. Her soul had sustained some damage when facing three Doomscourges, and it hadn't been properly healed during the space-time chaos.
Indeed, she needed to rest and recover.
Their departure was immediate, and as soon as Shannon stepped out of Wynthorpe Manor, she had a feeling she had forgotten something.
Suddenly, a teen voice rang out behind her. "Wait for me, Shannon!"
Shannon and the group paused in their steps and turned around, only to see a boy of about 12 or 13 hurrying after them with wide, eager eyes.
Before she asked who he was, she suddenly sensed a familiar energy on him and froze. "Trevaris?"
Trevaris nodded obediently.
Shannon fell silent.
Although she knew that with part of Velquin's soul added to his own, his strength of the divine soul would grow. Still, no one mentioned that his appearance would mature this quickly along with it.
Seeing how he eagerly ran toward them, Shannon suddenly stopped him. "Hold on."
She sized him up and requested, "Summon a fire phoenix."
Trevaris was a clone created by Vlad using a wisp of Velquin's divine soul. Although his soul appeared robust, no longer easily overridden or replaced by Vlad's consciousness, it was always better to be cautious.
Startled for a moment by the request, Trevaris quickly understood and responded. He raised a hand, summoning a fire phoenix many times larger than the one he had conjured.
The blazing phoenix soared high above Wynthorpe Manor, circling once before returning and vanishing into his palm.
Without a doubt, it was Trevaris standing before them.
After proving himself, he inched closer with innocent eyes and asked, "Shannon, can I come home with you?"
He had heard about Shannon and Benjamin's return, yet before he could see them, they were already leaving. Afraid to be left behind, he quickly dashed out and went after them.
Perhaps it was due to the fusion of part of Velquin's soul, but when Trevaris looked at Shannon and Benjamin, there was a noticeably deeper sense of dependence in his gaze than before.
Shannon hadn't planned to leave him behind; she had simply forgotten for a moment. So, naturally, she brought him along.
Before heading back to Seastone, they made a brief stop at the courtyard in the Demon District to pick up Shanny Gold, Benji Gold, and Albany.
Though Shannon and Benjamin had experienced what felt like a long journey through multiple timelines, only three days had passed in the present.
Very few knew about their mission to the past to retrieve the fragments of Velquin's soul. The Jensen family, in particular, had received no word at all.
Seeing Shannon and Hector again after more than a year, the Jensens were naturally overjoyed, especially Scott.
Despite now looking like a proper young man, he still acted like the enthusiastic younger brother he had always been when he saw Shannon.
Practically bouncing in place, he called out excitedly, "Shannon! Shannon, you're back! I heard you and your husband went on a long trip. Did you bring me any souvenirs?"
Naturally, it was Kai who had told him about their "trip".
