As the mist slowly thinned, the shapes ahead grew clearer.
Lexie and the group were the first to come into view, but Gordon and Melissa's eyes weren't on them. Their gazes were locked onto the fourth figure following behind.
His steps were slow and stiff as he walked right behind Lexie. When he finally emerged from the fog, the familiar face and frame appeared clearly in the morning light.
Gordon and Melissa froze, stunned in incredulity. The next second, tears burst from their eyes, and they stumbled forward, almost tripping in their rush.
"Son!"
"Colton!"
Their son was still alive!
Joy and disbelief crashed over them like a wave. For a moment, they didn't see anything else. All they knew was that he was here.
