Lynette certainly wouldn't bring up life or death in front of her mother-in-law. The entire Holt family was busy preparing for Anna's upcoming 80th birthday celebration, and Lynette wasn't foolish enough to ruin the mood. Last night, she'd nodded along obediently, letting things take their course and refraining from meddling in Samuel's affairs. But when she'd woken up this morning, she just couldn't resist finding Elise to confirm the rumor herself. Whether or not Zara would actually marry Samuel someday didn't matter. As long as Elise and Samuel divorced, everything else would fall neatly into place. "You worked so hard to marry Sam. Why are you getting divorced all of a sudden?" Sudden? It had been six years. Six long years of a marriage during which her husband spent nearly all his time with another woman. Anyone would have left long ago. If not for the snowstorm, Elise might've continued enduring it—for Samuel, and for their son, the only child she would ever have. She
