Chapter 9
When Samuel arrived at the hospital, he didn't see Elise anywhere. Only Zara was in the ward.
She was dressed lightly, so he draped his coat over her shoulders, then turned and stepped outside to make a call.
It was hung up after just one ring.
Something flickered in his eyes, and he switched to texting, but there was still no reply.
Elise didn't even read his message.
"Give me your phone." He reached toward Sebastian, who immediately handed it over.
Samuel dialed Elise's number. This time, it rang twice before she picked up. He curled his lips into a cold sneer.
"Hello, Sebastian? Are you calling to notify me about the divorce?" Elise asked.
"How long are you planning to keep this up?" Samuel's already cold voice sounded even more distant and icy through the phone.
Elise's tone was flat as she replied, "I'm serious about divorce."
Samuel clearly didn't believe her. "Even if we're going to divorce, you're still Lucas' mother. He's sick, and you left him alone in the ambulanc
