Chapter 21

Serena placed the two sapphire cufflinks back into the gift box in the storage room for safekeeping. Then, she added the rest of the cufflinks she had brought home one by one. Without a moment's delay, she rushed out the door and headed straight to the jewelry company where Chase had once ordered their matching rings. She asked specifically for Vera Parker. Vera was a designer in her 50s. She was elegant and composed. When Serena told her she wanted to collaborate on a new pair of rings—ones she hoped would help win back the love of her life—Vera looked genuinely surprised. "But didn't Mr. Hutchinson already have a pair made?" she asked. Serena's face paled. She paused before replying, "I made a lot of mistakes and lost him. Now I want to win him back." Realization dawned in Vera's eyes. She didn't press further and instead opened her laptop. "What kind of design are you thinking of? Do you have something in mind?" Serena gathered her thoughts and began to explain her ideas.
