Chapter 1 Prologue

Paramedics were rushing in, two nurses pulled the stretcher which contains a lovely woman with raven black hair stained with crimson red blood scattered all over her face. Oxygen mask was placed over her mouth and nose by another nurse trailing right beside the stretcher in fast movement. A doctor with greying hair and white overalls held on to her hand telling her she'll be all right when the truth is...nobody knows what will happen in few hours to come. Except the woman laying on the stretcher, the victim. She knows what the future holds for her, she knows deep in herself that whatever the doctor was saying was a lie, she knows she was just saying that not to make her panic and worsen her current situation. She knows she won't survive it. They took her into the Emergency department (ED) and tried to keep her heart beating with the defibrillator, they placed it on the spot where her heart is and her body reacted to it by rising a falling back into the hospital bed. The doctors and nurses looked tensed, each praying in their minds for the dying beauty lying on the bed. Her heart beat was weak. They all watched as the machine indicated she was hopeless and won't survive. the doctor in charge motioned to a petite nurse whose eyes was shimmering in tears to pull the cover over her head, a sign that indicates all hope was lost except a miracle happens. And it did. They all watched as the machine picked up back, showing that the heart it was connected to indeed was alive again, only it didn't last long. It was for a purpose. Everyone in the room smiled at themselves. The doctors shook hands at their success and the nurses exchanged happy glances, they all left the room, leaving the victim with another girl opposite her bed the only thing separating them from each other being a green curtain. With weak hands she drawled the curtain to a side, a motion she shouldn't have been able to do. But she did anyways, she saw who she saw in the dream she had before she was allowed to live for few more minutes. The nurse stationed with her spotted her and moved to draw back the curtain and put her back in the bed but was stopped when the machine changed its course. The alarm was beeping loudly, informing everyone within 20 feet the danger in the room. The nurse darted out of the room to bring the doctor only to smash into him as he was about to enter the room. Other nurses and doctors rushed in too. The doctor in charge made a move to get the defibrillator when a hand reached out to grab hers. A nurse tried to put the oxygen mask back on her nose and mouth when she raised the hand that had a needle in it and smacked the nurse and the mask away from her mouth. She opened her mouth to talk, tears were dripping down her eyes as she said her last words. 'After my death, give my heart to her. Tell Toby I love him'. The death grip she had on the doctor loosened and her hands fell limply to her sides as she took in her last breath. The doctor, with tears in her eyes looked down at the dead beauty and remembering her last words she turned and pushed the curtain to the side, revealing the girl with the smoking and the careless habit. she lived her life on drugs. 'Did she really deserve a good person's heart?.' Was the doctor's thought. Everyone parted for the crazy man who was running like a mad dog in a hospital. Didn't he know it was against the rule to run in a hospital? They all thought as they watched him run towards a particular direction. As he enters the room, the doctors and nurses in his way splits just like how the sea parted at the sight of Moses's rod. They kept looking at him as he breath like a wild dog screaming her name over and over again even though it is obvious he wouldn't get an answer, not now, not ever again. He finally realised that at a point and collapses on his knees beside her bed and holds her hand. "Mara , please don't do this to me. Don't leave me.' When he didn't get answer he began to shout. " Mara don't leave me! You promised! You promised to stay with me forever! You promised that you won't leave! Don't break your promise now, Mara. I need you now more than ever". The nurses started to drag him out but they couldn't so the security men had to help. It took three of them to do that. "It is all my fault." Toby said to himself. "I shouldn't have called her when I knew she was driving. I should have just cut the damn call!." "She died because of my carelessness. I killed her." He said before collapsing. And the curtain was drawn. ;-) LIKEY? This book is fully my work.
