Sunlight spilled through the glass, casting warm golden patterns that wrapped around the woman slouched on the couch.
Her shirt-dress shimmered faintly, the soft buttery yellow lit up by the sun. Eyes closed, she half-lay there on the sleek black leather couch.
William walked over quietly, crouching in front of her.
She must’ve dozed off while waiting too long — her position was far from comfortable. Legs flat on the floor, head tipped against the armrest... her neck was definitely going to be sore later. He thought about waking her but couldn’t bear to disturb her rest.
A lock of hair had fallen over her forehead. He gently brushed it aside with his fingertips.
