Elsie got into the car, and Liam handed her a paper bag.
She didn’t take it. “It was meant for you from the start.”
She’d actually drawn a similar portrait for both William and Liam before. Looking back now, even she found it hard to believe.
The two Harding brothers had actually stood under a maple tree and let the wind whip at them for over two hours just to help her get the sketch right.
“For me?” Liam raised a brow. “So what about William?”
“Huh?” Elsie looked confused.
“The one you made for William—did you give that to him too?”
Elsie stayed quiet.
The air instantly felt heavy inside the car.
Half an hour later, Liam dropped her off at the hotel.
Just before she opened the door to get out, she finally heard him say, “If you’ve decided to let go, don’t look back.”
Christmas Day.
No schedules, no work—Elsie had planned to just crash at the hotel all day. But even that tiny wish didn’t pan out; she didn’t even get a chance to snooze longer.
