The food on set wasn’t anything special, just your average catering—still way better than Elsie’s weird-tasting beef porridge.
But William barely touched it.
Even though his fever had gone down, his body was still struggling, and he had zero appetite. Plus, if it wasn’t made by Elsie, he didn’t bother pretending to enjoy it.
That afternoon, he actually called the manufacturer of the ear thermometer and asked the tech team in detail how to mess with the calibration.
That evening, when Elsie came home from work, she stared at the ear thermometer showing a scorching 41.5°C and frowned.
“Why is your fever worse now?”
She knew recurring high temps were a typical symptom of the flu, and the thermometer had been accurate a couple days ago—she hadn’t even considered that William could be this full of tricks.
Sprawled on the couch, looking pale and pretty lifeless, William really did pull off the sick act well.
He hooked his finger around hers, dark lashes lifted, and his deep brown eyes locked
