Chapter 6
Alexia's POV
The moment he left the room, I took a deep breath.
Oh the tingles howled my wolf internally as she had met her mate.
Is this why you were very happy? I asked her.
Yes, yes and yes, I could feel him around.
Why didn't I get to know about it?
Because you were focused on the competition and I didn't want to distract you. You know how important this was for us.
Yeah, thanks for that.
I quickly changed to my human form and wore my clothes back on. I pulled my messy hair into a bun.
I walked out of the locker room and saw the back of my mate. He was the most muscled man I had ever seen.
We should train together soon whistled Acacia, my wolf.
Oh I am waiting to beat his ass I said.
He turned his head towards me. My breath hitched in my throat and I stared into his green eyes. He caught my eye in a staring match. Everyone else had vanished, it was only me and him. Two long strides and he was in front of me.
"I did not introduce myself formally, my dear mate" he said taking my hand in his,"I am Alpha Colin Newell of the Shadow Moon Pack" he said giving me a peck on the back of my palm.
My cheeks were as red as tomatoes.
"Hi Alpha Colin" I said looking into his eye, "I am Alexia Kimberly. But I think you already know that."
He was there for the fight. He must have seen my name in the selection paper.
"Oh, it is just Colin, or Colle - for you" he whispered.
"Colle."
The air was thick. Regardless of the tragedy that had struck, the pull was dominant. The time was not appropriate but the pounding hearts and the awe-filled eyes were still present.
A throat cleared behind him.
"Hello Luna Alexia, I am Beta Brandon of the Shadow Moon Pack and this man's best friend since we were in diapers" said the man who was as tall as my mate and had much of a dimple laced smile.
"Nice to meet you Beta Brandon."
Colin just looked at him with a stern face.
"I think we need to go to outside. The Bench would be here soon" said Colin turning his head to meet my eyes.
Oh what wouldn't I do get lost in his eyes.
"Yes we should."
After a moment Colin gave me his elbow.
"Please, my Luna" he said motioning us to move forward.
My palm held onto Colin's elbow and we walked to the entrance to the arena. The scene was gory.
But this wasn't the first time I had seen a similar scene.
"There is a body in the locker room" said Brandon to a passing assistant. He got a nod in return.
"How did this happen exactly? How did the hunters get in?" I asked.
"All we know is that this ambush was a well coordinated attack to maim or kill the highest authorities of the packs. Seems like the hunters knew about this very well" said Colin scanning his surroundings.
"When will The Bench get here?" I asked.
"Should be here in an hour or so, Luna Alexia" said Brandon.
I gave him a small nod of acknowledgement.
"Would you mind if we go meet a friend now?" said Colin turning to me.
"Of course. Lead the way."
For a minute Colin stared at Brandon. It looked like they were mind-linking.
"I will be checking the situation around with Gerald, Alpha" said the Beta and made his exit with Gerald.
"My friend and ally, Alpha Nathaniel was shot by a hunter. We need to go see him."
I gave him a nod.
"I think they should be where the healers train. I can take you to the place" I said, leading us to the arena exit.
There was blood everywhere, human bodies lying around. Thankfully, there were no wolves or naked men around which meant we werewolves could overpower them.
As questions ran in my head, I thought about the dream I was chasing. Be accepted into a pack as a warrior.
This arena was the key, this fight was the key.
But now, this place was tarnished with enemy blood.
===
As we made our way through the healers' camp, the place was a mess. Healers running around injured wolves, camp assistants helping them get supplies.
Most of the wolves were not gravely injured, however the pain prevented them from shifting back for a while.
At a distance I could see Cassidy Hendricks, a fellow healer and friend.
"Cassie" I shouted leaving Colin's arm.
Cassie looked at me for a minute and turned back to her patient.
I ran towards her.
"I am glad you are okay Ali, but I have a serious wound to tend to here. This all the more is bigger than the competition" she stated cleaning the wolf's wound.
"Do you know where Alpha Nathaniel is? He is critically wounded but we need to visit him."
Cassie stopped what she was doing and turned her head to me.
"What? Why? Don't tell me you are his mate!"
"What? No! Why would I be? I f-" I started but was cut off by Colin.
"I would like to see my friend Nathan" said Colin looking at her dead in the eye.
Cassie stood up abruptly. Her jaw hit the floor.
"You-" she drawled off in a state of shock, however was cut off by the Alpha again.
"Do you know where can we find him?" he asked, now in a stern tone.
I looked between the two. It looked like they knew each other. And would have been utterly possible as Cassie was a part of Camp Rogue since only five years now. She had walked in at the age of thirteen which meant she was in her teens and did have a pack before the same.
My mind was clouded. How did Cassie and Colin know each other? Did these two have history together?
Now you are just making stories whined my wolf.
I don't know, I mean I never knew Cassie's pack too. She refrained from talking about her past.
I know, but please, this hurts me she whined again.
After what looked like an epic staring match that burnt my heart with immense jealousy, Cassie finally spoke breathing through her flared nostrils.
"He is in the special care ward on the third floor of the main training building."
"Thank you Cass" said Colin which made my ear perk up in extreme jealousy.
Cass? Like seriously, Cass?
As I controlled my hammering heart in my chest, Colin walked ahead, towards the building.
I turned back to look at Cass who was massaging her temple.
I looked towards Colin who was advancing towards the building.
This was going to be a very very bad day, more than it was already.
