Actually, all of the wounds I suffered were superficial ones. I just needed to get them bandaged. With a few days of rest, I would be fine.
While I was in the hospital, Mom and Dad came. They'd been briefed about what happened on the way here. Their faces were flushed from anger.
Dad announced he'd be firing James. His accounts would be audited to check whether he had used company money for personal purposes. If he did, we'd call the police immediately.
Samuel assured Dad, "Don't worry. I have made sure that he will not be able to find a job. Even if he were to become a beggar, no one would spare him a single scrap."
My parents looked at him with relief and pride glimmering in their eyes. They sighed, "You've always been the one we liked the most. What a pity that Natalie had bad taste. She abandoned a pearl for some rocks on the side of the road. Thankfully, after a few challenges, you guys still got together."
