Chapter 10
"Miss Green, we're not that close."
The light in Leslie's eyes dimmed in an instant, a bit of disappointment flashing through. Her fingers loosened slightly from Broderick's sleeve.
That look hit Broderick right in the gut.
But then, Leslie smiled again.
"Ricky, it's okay if you don't like me now. But I fell for you at first sight. Seriously, the moment I saw you, I was hooked. You're just my type-those eyes, brows, nose, lips-total perfection."
As she spoke, she reached out toward his eyebrows.
Broderick caught her hand before it could land.
Right now, Leslie's eyes were soft and sparkly, her cheeks pink like peach blossoms, her features bright and delicate, lips like rose petals-temptingly perfect. The kind that made you seriously consider if they'd taste as good as they looked.
Connor's jaw almost hit the floor.
She's a total seductress. No kidding.
First thing she does is try to flirt with their Mr. Ackerley?
Broderick's expression was guarded; you could tell he wasn't buying any of it.
Leslie felt his gaze and started to blush. Red spread from her cheeks all the way to the tips of her ears.
Her ears were tiny and thin, glowing red like they were set on fire. Honestly, they looked pretty pinchable.
Broderick gently pulled his hand free and said flatly to Connor, "Connor, why are you just standing there? Go get the car."
"Oh-right away, Mr. Ackerley."
Connor felt a chill down his spine. That look from Broderick just now-was he... annoyed?
Annoyed with what? That he looked at Leslie?
Honestly, everyone had been shocked when Broderick said he wanted to marry someone from the Green family-especially someone like Leslie, with her reputation.
No one really understood what he was thinking.
Now with this little sweetheart right next to him, why did Broderick still seem so cold and restrained?
Leslie looked a little bummed for a second, but then flashed another bright smile.
In her last life, Broderick had always been patient with her.
He let her do as she pleased.
No matter what trouble she got into, he'd always clean up the mess for her.
But she let him down then. This time around, she was going to be the one chasing.
So what if he's playing hard to get a little now? Tiny setbacks didn't scare her.
Pumping herself up again, she gazed at Broderick with total adoration-so intense he literally couldn't ignore it.
Right as he got to the door, Broderick couldn't help glancing her way.
Sure enough, Leslie was staring at him with those wide eyes, so bright it was like they stole the whole spotlight.
Broderick lifted a hand toward her eyes, wanting to cover them up.
Don't look at him like that. He wasn't made of stone.
He was harsh, moody, and dangerously unpredictable-but the last thing he wanted was to scare her.
Leslie suddenly tiptoed and pressed a soft kiss to his cheek.
Broderick's entire body froze at the touch.
Did she... just kiss him?
His Adam's apple bobbed hard.
Then she grinned, like sunshine breaking through the clouds. "Ricky, go be a good boy at work. I'll be home waiting for you for dinner."
Broderick had no idea how he walked away after that.
Watching him stiffly stroll off, Leslie smiled to herself.
So even Broderick gets flustered.
Her Ricky... was actually kinda pure.
