Chapter 208
Broderick pulled the car over, and Leslie started to feel a bit more awake.
But she really didn't wanna move.
It felt like she was in some sweet dream-where she could act spoiled all she wanted with Broderick.
Still keeping her eyes shut, she reached her arms out toward him.
"Mmm, I'm so sleepy... Ricky, carry me upstairs?"
She completely forgot they were at the old house, not Starcrest Manor. Not that she cared, even with Lillian-the one head over heels for Broderick-right there.
Let her watch. Maybe that way she'd finally give up.
Normally, Broderick would've just walked away without a word. But now? Guess carrying her had become second nature.
His mind flashed back to when he saw her curled up in a chair at the police station-hugging her knees, looking lost and fragile.
Then he thought about how clingy she could be, how she'd nearly cry just from not getting through to his phone.
Yeah, that tough shell of his? Softening without him meaning to.
No matter what the world says about Les
