Chapter 344
Frank really was kneeling there.
Leslie dragged over a chair, plopped down, and crossed her legs like she had all the time in the world. Her face held that unmistakable cold smugness.
"Mr. Adams, I actually used to think you were someone who could tell right from wrong. Turns out, you're just like everyone else. Now that the pain's hit your own doorstep, you're all about protecting your own? Makes sense, though. You probably think I'm not fit to judge 'cause I've never been a mom, right? But if I'd raised someone like Lillian? I wouldn't even let others touch her-I'd strangle her myself first."
Frank looked like he'd aged ten years in a blink, his face completely drained of color.
"Ma'am, please. She's my only daughter. If she goes to jail, what future could she possibly have?"
Leslie's voice was flat. "Should've thought of that before, huh? Guards, please see Mr. Adams out. And one more thing-he's no longer the house steward. From now on, no one lets him inside without our say-so."
