Stephen picked Tessa up after work that night. They had planned to have dinner together.
He brought her to a high-class Lospian restaurant, and the melodic sounds of a piano being played floated soothingly around the venue.
The red wine and steak offered were of the highest quality. The roses and flickering candle lights also added to the restaurant's romantic ambiance. Alas, Tessa was far too distracted to appreciate any of it. As a result, she ended up leaving her steak untouched, letting it go cold.
Stephen regarded her with concern. "Tess, is something on your mind?"
Tessa jerked out of her reverie. She returned Stephen's gaze, murmuring worriedly, "I took on a case a couple of days ago. The client is a young man who has just turned 19. His parents have both passed away, and his younger sister is his only surviving kin."
